FOR SALE: Aunt Anne's Exquisite Mink Coat $6,000
I inherited this mink coat from my Aunt Anne. Aunt Anne was a socialite from Vermont who liked to talk about 3 things: 1) family history 2) real estate 3) How nobody but her ever knew anything about jazz. Anne saw every famous jazz act that came through New England. I inherited half of her record collection when she died.
Anne majored in Italian at Wellesley college. She collected Hester Bateman silver. Her childhood home is now an art museum in Springfield, VT called the Miller Art Center.
Anne was my grandma, Margery Miller Welles', sister. Margery has been nominated to join the International Boxing Hall of Fame. The inductees will be announced this December. Margery was one of the founding authors of Sports Illustrated as well as their boxing expert. She was one of the first people, male or female, to figure out how powerful sports could be in the fight against racism. Margery was very much a civil rights activist before that term even existed.
Margery and Anne had another sister, Aunt Lynn, and a brother, E. Spencer Miller or "Uncle Spence". Uncle Spence was the longest serving president of a class I railroad. Here's his obit. Their ancestors founded the town of Springfield, VT. They also fought for the patriots in the American Revolution after fighting for the crown in the French and Indian War at the Battle of Quebec.
The coat has been appraised at $6,000. It's a Holt Refrew. PERFECT CONDITION. NO damage. HARDLY BEEN WORN. Full Length.
Please contact me if you're interested or if you know someone who might be. I'm offering a 10% commission to anyone who helps me find a buyer.
Warmly.

Bad Precedent. This is not a Sale site, no matter the historical connection.
ReplyDeletehow about sell the coat, and donate all the proceeds to the Miller Art Center?
ReplyDeleteI beg to differ! I saw a craigslist post on here earlier! In fact here are few craigslist postings. They are not mine! Just random ones in the area.

I even threw in a personal ad!

I bet the historical society doesn't have the money to buy the coat, but it would make a cool addition to their collection. You should donate it!
