The Springfield Police Department would like to announce that while this particular burglary was solved, there have been a number of other burglaries in the surrounding area in an extremely short period of time, to include a brazen attempt at a residence located off Cherry Hill at 2:30 in the afternoon on December 5th. With the holiday season upon us and the potential for gifts and other extra items being much more available in residences, the Springfield Police Department urges residents should they see anyone suspicious wandering the neighborhood or lurking around tree and hedge lines that they try to formulate a description and contact the PD immediately. Please remember, if you have residential alarms to set them every time you leave and leave no doors or windows unsecured. While it has not been uncommon for the burglar to use force to gain entrance, force also often causes noise that may alert people and or dogs in the area or in your home to take notice. Anyone who may have any information regarding this attempted residential burglary, various burglaries at residences located on Summer Street, a burglary at Baker's Fabrics on Chester Road, or any others that have not specifically been listed here, are encouraged to contact the Police Department at 802-885-2113
