Police Log

Some recent activity of the Springfield Police Department.


A call to Paddock Road was initially received as a structure fire - officers first respond to assist with evacuation, traffic, etc. Springfield FD responded and determined the source as a chimney fire. Any other details would need to be referred to the FD. Springfield Police units continued to patrol the area to ensure safety of FD personnel and motor vehicle traffic passing thru the area.

On Monday night, February 20th, officers responded to a call of a citizen dispute on Main Street downtown Springfield. Jennifer Share & Dwight Bundy were involved in a verbal altercation and Bundy was to get a ride and leave the area. Bundy began yelling at officers and occupants of the house from the street prior to leaving the area thereby leading him to be charged with Disorderly Conduct. Bundy then resisted officers efforts to take him into custody. Once in custody, he was subsequently lodged at Southern State Correctional Facility in lieu of $1000 and was ordered held until sober.

On Sunday, February 19, Tyler Simpson, age 20, of Unity, NH was taken into custody and charged with 1st Degree Aggravated Domestic Assault when during an argument he choked his girlfriend cutting off her air supply. Simpson was taken into custody without incident and was lodged at Southern State Correctional Facility in lieu of $1500 bail.

During the early morning hours of February 18th, officers responded to a report of a 1 car motor vehicle accident on Eureka Road. Upon arrival, officers made contact with 18 year old Abigail Hicks of Hartland, VT. Thru the course of the investigation it was determined that Hicks was under the influence of alcohol. She was brought to the Springfield PD for processing for DUI and issued a citation to appear in Windsor Superior Court Criminal Division at a later date.

On February 17, 2012 Cody Loewe was issued a criminal citation at the Sullivan County Jail in Claremont New Hampshire for his involvement in 9 attempted burglary or successful burglary incidents in the Town of Springfield spanning as far back as August. Loewe was believed to have had part in several other crimes however the charges filed are with respect to the crimes committed in the Town of Springfield. Loewe will appear in Vermont Superior Court at a future date. This investigation will remain ongoing at this time.

On 2-14-12 a motor vehicle stop was conducted on Park Street. Upon speaking with the operator, David Laplante, age 51, of Springfield, a consent search of the vehicle was conducted and subsequently marijuana was recovered from the vehicle. Laplante was issued a citation roadside to appear in Windsor Superior Court Criminal Division to answer to the charge of Possession of Marijuana at a later date.
