Mass. man denies selling heroin February 17,2014 Rutland Herald WHITE RIVER JUNCTION — A man accused of dealing heroin in the Springfield area just over a year ago has finally been brought into a Vermont court to face the charges. Elvin “PeeWee” Gonzalez, 36, traveled to White River Junction criminal court last week from a correctional facility in Massachusetts where he is serving time for drug crimes in that state. Gonzalez pleaded innocent in Vermont to three felony counts of selling heroin, which carry a possible maximum penalty of 30 years in prison, if convicted of all the charges. Detective Patrick Call wrote in an affidavit that the Southern Vermont Drug Task Force carried out a pair of purchases of heroin from Gonzalez in November and December 2012 in downtown Springfield after a cooperating informant came forward to police and said they were able to buy heroin from “PeeWee.” In mid-December 2012, shortly after the second alleged purchase of a bundle of 10 bags of heroin from Gonzalez had been carried out in downtown Springfield, Gonzalez was arrested in Northampton, Mass. He was charged in that state with having 150 bags of heroin in his possession after he was stopped for nearly having hit a Massachusetts State Police trooper’s cruiser.
