Fugitive arrested in Springfield June 11,2014 Fugitive arrested in Springfield WHITE RIVER JUNCTION — A routine traffic stop Friday led Springfield Police to apprehend a New Hampshire fugitive who had failed to show up for a drug-related court appointment a month ago in the Granite State. James Barry, 30, was the passenger in a car that was stopped and towed off the Charlestown Road on Friday evening because the windshield was shattered and the driver did not have any insurance, Springfield Police Officer Jeremy Fitzgibbons reported. Fitzgibbons did a routine check on two passengers who were in the car and discovered that Barry, who until recently was a resident of Charlestown, N.H., had an active warrant out for his arrest for failure to appear. New Hampshire authorities said a grand jury in Sullivan County had indicted Barry earlier this year for allegedly selling two Oxycodone pills back in October to an individual who was acting as an informant for the New Hamsphire Drug Task Force. Barry pleaded innocent to a felony count of sale of a controlled drug in March but then failed to return for a court proceeding in early May. During his appearance in court in White River Junction on Monday a dejected looking Barry acknowledged he was the person being sought and signed papers in front of Judge Karen Carroll waiving his right to contest the extradition back over the Connecticut River.
The other person checked by officer Fitzgibbons was JESSE EMERSON who was arrested on drug charges in the "operation precision valley clean up". Emerson is also the town snitch.
