Man held without bail in Springfield shooting Posted: Jun 13, 2014 3:24 PM EDT Updated: Jun 13, 2014 3:34 PM EDT WHITE RIVER JUNCTION, Vt. (AP) - A New Jersey man is being held without bail after pleading not guilty to attempted murder and other charges in a shooting in Springfield. Leon Jiggetts, of Newark, New Jersey, was charged in connection with the Wednesday shooting. He was arraigned on Friday. Vermont police say he shot a Springfield man as part of a dispute about the proceeds of drug deals. Court documents say Jiggetts, 33-year-old Jabbar Chandler, of Charlestown, New Hampshire, and a 16-year-old juvenile went to an apartment to confront 19-year-old Joseph Atkinson about rumors the juvenile was stealing money from drug deals. Police say Atkinson was shot after the three forced their way into the apartment. Atkinson is recovering.
