From WCAX.COM
SPRINGFIELD, Vt. - Dolloff Acres Farm in Springfield is Vermont's Dairy Farm of the Year.
The 80-cow operation produces about 24,000 pounds of milk. It was recognized by the UVM Extension and Vermont Dairy Industry Association for its herd management practices, quality feed and selective breeding. Dolloff Acres is run by husband and wife team Mike and Heidi Dolloff.
"It was hard. We were nominated a couple of years ago, and I had to go and give the phone to Heidi 'cause -- I just -- it means a lot … you can't explain it ," Mike Dolloff said.
"You know, you're kind of speechless as in how it feels," Heidi Dolloff said. "We put a lot of work into this, you know, it's not picture perfect, but it's always a work in progress and we're always wanting to change this or change that, and it's definitely an overwhelming feeling that somebody recognizes your hard work."
The Dolloffs started farming in Springfield 17-years ago with just 30-cows.
