SPRINGFIELD — Eighteen students from Springfield High School were inducted into membership of the National Honor Society in a ceremony held at Springfield High School on May 29, 2014. Members were selected by a Faculty Council for meeting high standards of scholarship, service, leadership, and character. Students inducted were: David Bryant, Lyndsie Cammarata, Monica Cerniglia, Patrick Clancy, Blair Crowley, Maygan Daly, Michael Kollman, Scott Lariviere, Allyssa McCutcheon, Allison Naccarato, Corrina Nichols, Nicole Patterson, Jordan Phelps, Edward Shambo III, Bryne-Marie Sydney, Kaitlyn Stokarski, Matthew Whaley, and Kyle White. "National Honor Society members are chosen for and expected to continue their exemplary contributions to the school and community," said Marlene Allen, chapter adviser. The National Honor Society ranks as one of the oldest and most prestigious national organizations for high school students. Chapters exist in more than 60 percent of the nation's high schools. Since 1921, millions of students have been selected for membership and millions of dollars in scholarships have been awarded to senior members by the sponsoring organization the National Association of Secondary School Principals.

ReplyDeleteWe need to see more of this. The schools are full of talented, smart, and caring kids, who get no face time in the local papers and news. Good news doesn't sell. Well to the newly inducted National Honor Society members, congratulations for a job well done! And good luck in your future endeavors!
