Krista Wall, 33, a former resident of Bennington, pleaded innocent this week to six misdemeanor counts of simple assault on police officers, using bodily fluids to assault medical personnel, disorderly conduct and violating release conditions. She was released again on conditions from White River Junction criminal court, including an order that she not possess or consume alcohol. Springfield Police Chief Douglas Johnston and Lt. Mark Fountain went to an apartment on Park Street on Monday after a resident reported that Wall was “extremely intoxicated” and not welcome to stay. Fountain wrote in his report that they tookWall to the Springfield Hospital to detox; she initially refused to get out of the cruiser and then threw herself, screaming, onto the floor of the hospital’s registration room. Then the lieutenant said Wall intentionally spat in his face and “began kicking at me.” Fountain and Johnston handcuffed her and put her on a gurney with a “spit hood” over her head. She then kicked Johnston in the shoulder, knocking off his microphone and nameplate, the report said. After being cleared by the medical staff, Wall was taken to the Springfield jail. Fountain said he had to stop three times to unwrap the rear seat belt from around Wall’s neck. “Each time it was quickly removed, with her saying she wanted to die,” Fountain wrote. The final time Johnston shut the door with seat belt hanging out of the car so Wall couldn’t grab it, the report said. A half-dozen correctional officers helped to remove Wall from the cruiser. A female guard searched Wall’s clothing and found a 4-inch serrated paring knife in her bra, Fountain wrote. In addition to the new charges in Windsor County, Wall is awaiting trial in Bennington for disorderly conduct and domestic assault, and in Rutland County for simple assault by menace and two counts of violation release conditions. She is scheduled to undergo a psychiatric exam in Rutland this month to determine whether she is competent to stand trial.
Good thing they finally got her contained because what from I just read it seems like she's very unstable and a danger to herself and society. Thank goodness she's locked up and getting the help she needs. Oh wait what's that? You say she's been released again despite all these charges and continues to be released? Again? Since I'm so stupid I should probably go back and read this article again. Sorry for my rant folks I must have missed something.
ReplyDeleteOh and I forgot to thank spd for a job well done and how frustrating it must be to endure crap like this knowing you'll be dealing with the same individual next week. Job security I guess?
ReplyDeletewhat if she had ebola?
ReplyDeleteAnd....that's right guys,she's single!
ReplyDeleteAs I have stated many times on this forum, this Is your incompetent justice system at work. Obviously, the judges have no regard for the police or the general public's safety, or they wouldn't keep putting these individuals back on the street. When are voters going to demand accountability from our public officials and the people they appoint?

DeleteAlthough only a mid term election, rational voters have another opportunity to effect change. There is the choice of maintaining representation in Montpelier that enables the current judicial system, or we can affect change. Looking around at the parasites, morons, disability scammers, and unskilled DHR slugs inline at the Riverside polling facility, I wont be holding my breath. Vermont has become a bastion for selfish, unskilled misfits that define the takers vs. makers.
thank you Springfield police why in the world is she on the streets with a need for a mental eval? This is not helping the town of Springfield
ReplyDeleteHey "Judge" Hudson, care to engage in a campaign for judiciary reforms instead of condescending to the locals in Springfield with your lectures on how to fix the town's problems?
ReplyDeleteHello? Judge Hudson? Are you still around, or have you already departed for your winter home out of state (Florida)?
Did I understand this correct, she was released on conditions? Why was she not put on a 72 hour commitment? The police could have initiated that.
