Published November 28, 2014 in the Rutland Herald New charges pressed for Springfield couple By ERIC FRANCIS CORRESPONDENT WHITE RIVER JUNCTION — New charges have been filed against a Springfield couple who were already implicated in serious drug charges earlier this year. Jesse Emerson, 34, and his wife, Eugenia, 33, each pleaded innocent this week to misdemeanor counts of possession of a hallucinogen, stemming from what began as a routine traffic stop on Interstate 91 in October. The pair was released from the courthouse on pre-trial conditions. Vermont State Police Trooper Ryan Wood said he initially pulled over the Lincoln Navigator the couple was riding in because it lacked inspection and registration stickers. He recognized Eugenia because of “two prior traffic stops in which she was operating a vehicle where large amounts of drugs were located,” Wood said. Wood was the trooper who stopped Emerson in February on I-91 and reported finding 690 bags of heroin stuffed inside the child seat in which Emerson’s child was sitting at the time. During the Oct. 14 stop, Wood said the presence of police appeared to be making Jesse Emerson nervous. “(He) was breathing heavily and his chest was rising and falling in a rapid and exaggerated manner,” Wood recalled. He said when additional troopers arrived on the scene and helped search the vehicle, they discovered drugs, paraphernalia and a large amount of cash. Wood said the Emersons had a total of $7,637 in cash rolled up in various bundles of bills secured by rubber bands and well as a hundred empty clear plastic bags, a digital scale, butane lighters and a bottle of assorted pills. Police also reported finding several plastic sandwich bags and a glass jar containing a total of almost 90 grams of white powder that Wood reported Jesse Emerson acknowledged was the street drug known as bath salts.
Keep letting them off scott free. They will never learn a lesson
ReplyDeleteJesse and Eugenia Emerson are perfect examples as to why the judicial system needs to be elected and not appointed.
ReplyDeleteTheir children need to be taken away and given to someone who doesn't know the Emersons so the kids can hopefully get a real upbringing without their influence.
Our judicial system is absolutely disgusting and I don't know any other way to phrase it. I agree with the prior commentor that if we, the people could elect judges, we might get a much more responsive justice system.
ReplyDeleteLincoln Navigator?....really now.
ReplyDeleteThis is such a sad fall for these people. Anyone who knows them can honestly say Jesse was way better before he Eugenia. Drugs ruin people. Jesse used to an amazing father. I just want people to realize that.
ReplyDeleteYour sympathy is entirely misplaced.
DeleteSpend a day in an oncology ward witnessing a young family's gut wrenching grief over a child. The world would be much better place without these Emersons and other such losers on it.
