State won't appeal Corrections lawsuit

The state will not appeal a court decision that deemed it unconstitutional to send male, but not female, inmates out of state, state officials say.

  1. RE: The judge ruled it violated Carpenter’s constitutional right to equal protection because he was not able to visit his children the same way as female inmates who are not sent out of state.

Truly astounding! Exactly what is the acceptable radius that prisoners can be housed away from their families, Judge Helen Dee-Toor? And if the family moves away is the state then bound to transfer the prisoner to a facility closer to their new residence? What is it with this half-baked reasoning that deems these imprisoned pillars of our society to even be considered as worthy parents and acceptable examples for their children anyway?

We supposedly free members of society have actually become prisoners of an activist judiciary that has chosen to shred the constitution rather than enforce it.

  2. On the other hand, couldn't they just start shipping women to Kentucky as well?

  3. My understanding is, as a convicted felon your "rights" beyond cruel and unusual punishment have been voided.

Just remember folks, if you voted to return Windsor County's contingent of liberals to Montpelier this month, you have exact the government you deserve. So suck it up cup cake and enjoy the ride.
