Incident: Untimely Death Investigation

Time: 0756 hours
Place: Springfield Footbridge —Springfield Shopping Plaza
On 02/21/15, at approximately 0756 hours, members of the Springfield Police Department responded to the Springfield Plaza Footbridge for a report of a male subject who was lying down on the foot bridge and reportedly unconscious.
Upon the first officer's arrival, a male was subject was found to be unconscious and to not be breathing. The male subject appeared to have died on scene of an undetermined medical cause, as there was no evidence to indicate otherwise.
The male was subsequently identified as 60 year old Wayne T. Fortier of Springfield, Vermont and his body was subsequently transported to the Chief Medical Examiner's Office in Burlington VT for an autopsy. The initial on scene investigation revealed that Mr. Fortier had purchased groceries at Shaws and began walking back to his apartment when he collapsed on the footbridge.
Anyone who witnessed Mr. Fortier walking on the footbridge or seen collapsing is requested to contact Springfield PD.
Mr. Fortier is believed to have one sister who resides somewhere in Florida. The sister's name and whereabouts is unknown. Anyone who can assist in providing the sister's name and contact information is requested to provide it to the Springfield Police Department at 885-2113. Please request to speak with Lt. Mark Fountain and or Detective Anthony Moriglioni.
As unfortunate as this is, I am wondering if there is such a thing as a "timely death." RIP, sir.
