  1. The superintendent would not act on unsubstantiated accusations. The article mentions over 500 texts and emails.... Maybe those support the racist, homophobic bullying mentioned. Hmmmm. Also, the "coach" wondered why someone would save those texts..... Maybe that someone felt bullied or unjustly judged..... Hmmmm. A side note.... The team won one regular season game against MSJ.... A program much smaller than SHS. The second game they won, also against MSJ, was a last minute addition to the schedule and did not count toward regular season stats.

  2. Agreed 8;14- This is a hot issues because most those in support are football families with kids on the team. We know all too well the love of sports in our town. Look- I support Zach. The law is the law and without knowing the content of the texts it is hard to call this one. However, there is a new coach in the future that will prove to be far more effective and do an outstanding job. (no I don't have any "inside" information) I am just stating everything happens for a reason. It is important that we build a strong competitive sports program because that draws good families who want to join our community. But we don't need to build that program with any individual that puts us at risk or our kids at risk. THERE WILL BE A WINNING TEAM in our future but how we reach that pinnacle is important and it should be done ethically, legally and with the highest of moral standards.

I think this is great the turnout at the school board meeting. If we could only have this much involvement in the future instead of being negative nancy's all the time. We have to understand that there WAS a valid reason. It wasn't because we don't like someone. I have heard that this coach does have a past with hazing and I am not sure how true that is but nonetheless it doesn't sound like an individual with proven leadership ability that I was coaching my child.

    2. Lets see in the news story they stated that Coach Fogg? was non-renewed. Lets not play semantics with wording please. Why was this coach let go?

    3. One assistant coach's contract was not renewed and the athletic director (and was an additional assistant coach) was fired as well.

    4. The AD was not fired.

  4. The real irony here may be that the coach has fallen victim to politically correct bullies from within the educational establishment who are quick to dole out punishment for thought expression that they find inconsistent with their progressive agenda.

  6. The educational establishment is never quick to do anything. I am sure that none of us has all the facts so we can't judge or blame based on things we just don't know.....

  8. A coach can't be one of the guys, he can be friendly, but he needs to be a mentor and leader who kids look-up to. It's a position similar to being a military leader, when you tell someone what to do they must take you serious so that order is kept. Being one of the guys is just that, one of the guys and no one is the leader.

  9. Does anyone know what was said in the emails or texts?

  10. Unfortunate situation for everyone including the ball players. But we have hemmed in our school officials with a variety of politically correct standards, and the State is threatening to pile on some more because of reaction to some child abuse tragedies in the recent past that had nothing to do with schools. Coaches who fail to adapt to the regulatory environment, put Administrators in a position where they have to react regardless of what the majority of the parents may want. In addition other regulatory requirements prevent them from fully disclosing why they acted. I rather doubt Zach wanted to sack anyone.

    1. All that you say is exactly the reason I'm glad to be out of soooo politically correct Vermont. Come on down south if you want to have leaders that can lead with common sense rather than with political correctness for fear of what the state will do. I'm pretty sure that coach Harris will feel glad to get back to Tennessee if this isn't resolved in his favor.

    2. Not sure the regulatory culture in Tennessee is that much different. He may have had some similar problems down there as well. Not sure this is a liberal/conservative issue, as there seems to be a non-partisan support for increasing restrictions as soon as the "child card" gets played -- its the so called child protection which is starting to get out of control and interfering with parental discretion and hemming in the discretion of the administrators and causing teachers to walk on egg shells. Its a nation wide problem due to over reaction to previous abuses.

  11. First the Springfield Reporter article that came out today covered the facts without clouding the article with high drama. Second, let's put this issue to rest have a decision be made and move forth. Yes there is a lot on the line here but until the legal action is pursued we won't know much more than we do.
