At approximately 12:35 hours this date, Springfield police officers responded to the area of the bridge between Clinton St. and Main St. for a reported vehicle in the river.
Upon arrival officers saw a Chevy truck on its side on the river bank below the community center parking lot. 85 year old William Buswell, operator of the vehicle, was receiving first aid from 2 females and an older male who had arrived on scene.
Springfield Ambulance, Vermont State Police and Hillside Auto responded to assist with extrication of the patient and the vehicle. Buswell suffered minor injuries and was transported to Springfield ER by ambulance.
Buswell was wearing his seat belt at the time of the crash.
