Photo Provided SPRINGFIELD, Vt. – Jake’s Women, a comedy by Neil Simon, directed by Stephanie Rowe, is the next production in the 2016 Springfield Community Players’ season. Tom Field of Springfield, plays Jake, a novelist, struggling to save his marriage. Jake talks to many of the women he knows, both in real life, past and present, and in his imagination, hoping to gain insight. In his reveries he sees his daughter Molly at age 12 (Anna Church of Cavendish) and later at 21 (Ainsley Bertone of Springfield). He sees his revered late wife, Julie, (Anna Kendall of Andover) and his actual wife, Maggie, (Pam Shaughnessy of Cavendish) who is trying out a six-month separation. Neil Simon has filled the play with his usual one liners and contrasts them with moving flashbacks. Rebecca Skrypeck and Aprille Hillock, both of Springfield, play outlandish characters. Skrypeck, as Edith, Jake’s wisecracking therapist, has dating woes of her own. Hillock is Jake’s boisterous, meddling and unattached sister, Karen. Alina Abraham of Springfield plays Sheila, Jake’s latest girlfriend, who sees Jake at his most erratic. “Jakes’ Women,” opens on July 15 and runs July 16, 22 and 23 at 7:30 p.m. at the Springfield Players’ Studio on South Street. Tickets are $15 for general admission and $12 for seniors and students. For reservations, call 802-885-4098. Doors open at 7 p.m.
