Road closures for Springfield's Market Madness Aug. 20
SPRINGFIELD — Springfield on the Move is hosting the annual Market Madness street festival from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 20, in downtown Springfield. There will be something for everyone at this event including a variety of vendors, live music, food, local breweries, ice cream social, a Circus Smirkus performer and much more. Events will also be taking place in the Springfield Plaza.
Keeping the event fun and safe for those in attendance is critical, as such, the decision has been made to close Main Street for the event this year. The downtown sections of Main Street (VT Route 11), Park Street, Valley Street and Summer Hill will be closed to all traffic during the event between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. Main Street traffic will be detoured along Mineral Street, Park Street and Chester Road (VT Route 11) during the event.
Valley Street is already closed due to ongoing bridge construction. The detour for the Valley Street construction project is along Elm Hill Road.
Parking for the event is available along River Street, lower Main Street, Claremont Savings Bank, the town hall parking lot, Lovejoy Tool parking lot, Baptist Church parking lot and Factory Street. Parking will also be available at the Springfield Plaza and Riverside Middle School. A free shuttle provided by The Current will be available throughout the event to connect the middle school parking lot to the plaza and downtown events.
