2016-10-18 / Local Vermont Apple Festival was a huge success By Caitlin Christiana, Executive Director of the Springfield Regional Chamber of Commerce Thanks to everyone who helped to make the Springfield Regional Chamber of Commerce’s 34th Annual Vermont Apple Festival such a great success! On Saturday, Oct. 8, we were blessed with a rainless day, comfortable temperatures and magnificent views of foliage colors popping. Visitors showed up in record numbers to shop the craft fair, enjoy the live music, sample fair food and participate in a variety of family-friendly activities. Crafters from all over New England displayed their unique creations including quilts, jewelry, rustic signs, handmade dolls and doll clothing, holiday ornaments, scarves, photographs, glassware, toys, soaps, chocolates and more! The Farmer’s Market offered a variety of fresh produce, home-cooked foods and handmade items. The new bouncy house was a big hit, as were the pony rides, the Fastest Kid in Town Race, and Dux the Balloon Guy was the perfect new addition to round out attractions for children. Fairway food included fried dough, caramel apples, non-GMO kettle corn, barbecue, fudge, pastries and challah and Jamaican fare. We were also thrilled to welcome Trout River Brewery’s beer tent to this year’s festival. Miss Vermont and the other judges had a tough job tasting and scoring all the homemade submissions for the Pie Baking Contest. Congratulations to this year’s winners!
