2016-11-30 / Local Conservation district to assess stormwater treatment SPRINGFIELD — The Ottauquechee Natural Resources Conservation District (ONRCD) has recently received funding from the Vermont Agency of Natural Resources Department of Environmental Conservation to carry out stormwater treatment infrastructure designs at the Transfer Station in Springfield. This is a multi-phase effort to improve water quality in the Black River by reducing untreated stormwater inputs. Through the project, ONRCD, in partnership with Watershed Consulting Associates, LLC and Aldrich & Elliot, will evaluate the viability of several different stormwater treatment options and select the preferable treatment method for future implementation, with 100% design plans will be developed upon selection of the desired treatment method. Funding for this project is provided by the Ecosystem Restoration Grant Program administered by the Vermont Agency of Natural Resources. Final design plans will be developed by March 2017. The Ottauquechee Natural Resources Conservation District, founded in 1944, helps individuals, groups and communities in eighteen towns in Windsor County, and one in Rutland County, by providing education, information and technical assistance relating to conservation issues. The district has always been innovative in its conservation efforts. Early programs focused on agricultural needs, however, over the years, as patterns in farming have changed, District programs have changed to meet environmental needs. Today the district also gives considerable assistance to various non-agricultural agencies and groups. https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgFkRURU2g-8ame1UAgjAQAEGgjckskLWNnY9YsEJgIWoMN5L9UVJ8B1u81uBYlwFWeMYQ0SxAPP1t45Tse82ndRCaH9oKROPK7KFpDshP4dnJmihQV40yZEuoCF0gQBVSQRwsWquXjlH4/s1600/spfldvtnews-thumbnail.png
