2016-12-06 / Local Holiday open house, raffle at Springfield Town Library SPRINGFIELD — Come to the Springfield Town Library between 6 and 7:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 9, to enjoy the annual Holiday Open House sponsored by the Friends of the Springfield Town Library (FOSTL) with help from library trustees and staff. There will be festive music provided by the Comtu Chamber Players, mulled and chilled cider, baked treats and savory snacks. If you are a friend of the library, come to meet other book lovers and library enthusiasts. If you have never been to the library, this is a great chance to become acquainted with this wonderful local resource. Children will enjoy playing with the puppets, train, and dollhouse or reading in the bathtub while parents graze, chat, and enjoy the music. There will also be a free childrens’ raffle — tickets are available now or can be filled out the night of the event. The event will be further enlivened by the annual benefit raffle—all funds going to support the library — this year with over twenty prizes donated by generous businesses and individuals. Prizes include two I-Tunes cards, each worth $100; a $50 gift certificate from Von Bargen’s Jewelry; High Tea for Two at the Inn Victoria, and a three-month adult membership to the Edgar May Health Center, as well as four gift baskets and numerous gift certificates from Biben’s Ace Hardware, Boccaccio’s Hair Salon, Bond Auto, Buick GMC, Free Range Restaurant, The Heritage Deli, Joe’s Discount Beverages, Shaw’s Supermarket, Sheri’s Heads Up Salon, The Pizza Stone, and Village Pizza, among others.
