SPRINGFIELD — Springfield Community Chorus is starting the spring season of its 50th year by inviting new members to join. No tryouts are required. Rehearsals are at 7 p.m. Mondays at the Unitarian Universalist Church, 21 Fairground Road in Springfield. Ken Olsson is the director. The spring concerts will be in collaboration with the Bennington Choral Society. Combined choruses will sing the fourth movement of Beethoven's 9th Symphony accompanied by a full orchestra. The May 6 concert wil be performed in Bennington and the May 7 concert will be in Springfield. The choruses will also be singing a world premiere choral work by Vermont composer, Zeke Hecker.
