The snowman, dubbed “Maximus Glorious,” features a strobe light “beating heart” that adds a kaleidoscope effect at night, according to Springfield resident David Holton. It was built by David and his wife Kathleen Holton, with help from neighborhood children Liam, Isys, Adam, Faith, Emmet and Kylie, who range in age from 2 to 10. The team worked for three weeks to build the snowman, which has a 25-foot base circumference and weighs about one ton. “It’s massive. It’s outrageous,” David Holton said. Although the snow was not cooperating at first, the team used ladders, shovels, and hoses to build the snowman, which they completed on Dec. 31. From left in back are Kathleen Holton, Lori Bonneville (mother of Faith and Kylie), Isys, Liam, Adam, Kylie, and David Holton with Chance the dog. In front are Emmett and Faith.
Springfield should have a yearly snowman building competition & funds collected should be donated to the Family Center!
