2017-01-28 / Community Springfield Senior Center news By Heather Hall, Executive Director Join the Springfield Senior Center on Monday, Jan. 30 at 1 p.m. for Game Day. Exercise your brain while we play a variety of different games with a great group of people. On Wednesday, Feb. 1, at 1 p.m., we will be having our Roadrunner’s Meeting. Join us at the senior center to learn about all the trips we will be taking throughout the 2017 season. With lots of great information including trip details, prices and when to sign up, this is something you don’t want to miss. The Springfield Senior Center has started making appointments for the Tax Program with AARP for the Springfield and Ascutney locations. Please call the senior center today to schedule your appointments; appointments will be given on a first-come, first-serve basis. The time is booking up fast and an appointment is necessary, walk-ins will not be taken. The Knit Wits will be meeting Thursday, Feb. 2, at 1 p.m. in the Living Room. If you would like to join them, please stop on by during their time at the senior center. The Springfield Senior Center has added some new, exciting classes to the line-up for the February times. Join us on Mondays, starting Feb. 6, from 1 to 2 p.m. for a beginner’s Line Dancing Class. This class is open to any skill level, even if you’ve never line-danced before. The class will start out learning basic dance moves and choregraphs and eventually work their way up to more different dances. Another new class being added to the line-up us Chair Dancing on Thursdays from 11 to 11:50 a.m. This class will be perfect for that individual who wants to learn some new moves but might not have the mobility, balance or coordination to do full dance moves. Chair Dancing involves being seated in a chair but still moving to the music and having a great time.
