61st Apple Blossom Cotillion rehearsals underway

2017-02-25 / Local 61st Apple Blossom Cotillion rehearsals underway SPRINGFIELD — The 61st Apple Blossom Cotillion is almost three months away, but the hard work for its participants began Sunday, Jan. 8, at Riverside Gymnasium in Springfield and will continue every Sunday until the big night on May 6. This year, 21 high school senior girls and their chosen escorts will be joined by 14 elementary school couples at the cotillion. The last year there were more than 20 contestants was 2008. The musical theme this year is “Rock On,” and will feature popular songs that will be familiar to all who attend. The high school senior girls who will be competing for the title of Apple Blossom Queen are: Emilia Battista, Karlee Brown, Lina Geyer, Makenna Goodrich, Candace Hadwen, Kyndra Hains, Kelsie Johnston-Fraser, Kiana Laplante, Taylor Lyles, Madeline Macie, Danielle Marasa, Katherine Moulton, Cassidy Otis, Aunna Parker, Kayla Quimby, Katelyn Relihan, Ericka Schoff, Moira Stettner, Emily Therrien, Isabelle Vogell and Katie Worth. Pam Shaughnessy is the director of this year’s cotillion. She is assisted by the children’s coordinators, Tracy Austin and Candace Groner. Kyla White is the show’s choreographer, assisted by Carrie Jewell. Larry Kraft will be the event’s master of ceremonies for the 17th consecutive year. The Apple Blossom Cotillion is a fundraiser for Springfield Hospital. The proceeds from this popular evening of community entertainment provide support for the Dr. E. Sherburne Lovell Health Career Award and the services of the hospital.
