2017-04-22 / Community Springfield Senior Center news By Heather Hall, Executive Director Stop in the Springfield Senior Center next week between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. to vote our 2017 Senior of the Year; voting will end Friday, April 28. We will celebrate our Senior of the Year on May 31 at a celebration. On Monday, April 24, come to the Springfield Senior Center to sign up for the trip to Pennsylvania Dutch Country. Sign-up for the trip will start at 9 a.m. for Active Members and 10 am for Non-Active Members. Penn Dutch Country’s “The Miracle of Christmas & Much More,” join the Springfield Senior Center as we travel to Pennsylvania for 3 days and 2 nights during the early holiday season for a trip we won’t soon forget. With tickets to see two amazing shows and stops at Hershey’s Chocolate World, “The Sweetest Spot on Earth,” and the National Christmas Museum, this is sure to be an amazing trip. Dates: Dec. 5 to Dec. 7: Active Member Price: $485 per person double occupancy, Non-Active Member Price: $499 per person double occupancy. Deposit amount due upon registration: $50 per person. On Tuesday, April 25, join us at the Springfield Senior Center at 1 p.m. for Nickel Bingo with Roger Newhall. On Wednesday, April 26, the Springfield Senior Center will be hosting Bunny Putnam as she puts on an informational seminar called, “From Machines to People.” The seminar will share information and photos on the history of OUR senior center throughout the ages. It’s sure to be a wonderful time — light refreshments will also be served. Please see the sign-up sheet at the senior center to bring something in. On Thursday, April 27, the Springfield Senior Center will be taking a day trip down to Mohegan Sun Casino. If you have signed up for the trip, please be to the Springfield Senior Center at 8:30 a.m. to get ready for the bus departure — the bus will leave promptly at 9 a.m. Because of the day trip taking place, the senior center will be CLOSING at 1 p.m. rather than 4 p.m. on this day. The Springfield Senior Center currently has two trips open and available for people to join us on. The first trip will be taking place on Thursday, May 18 and will be going to the Ogunquit Playhouse to see “Mamma Mia!” Lunch at Mike’s Clam Shack is included in the price as well as a stop at When Pigs Fly. The cost is $143 for Active members and $155 for Non-Active Members. The second trip that is available for people to sign up for is to go and see The Bobby Darling Show. Get ready to laugh yourself silly with the Springfield Roadrunners as we travel down to the HukeLau in Chicopee, Massachusetts on Tuesday, Aug. 15 to enjoy The Bobby Darling Show and a TWIN LOBSTER MEAL (prime rib for us Land Lubbers). This show is a wonderful mix of music and comedy. ACTIVE MEMBERS: $89.95.00 per person. NON-ACTIVE MEMBERS: $101.95 per person.
