Despite the loss the Cosmos did get to witness two of the team's newcomers score their first points of the season. Hannah Anderson and Jayden Thurber contributed a basket apiece to the green and white's effort. “It is amazing to see new players score for the first time, and when I asked Hannah Anderson how it felt, she said great,” said Springfield coach Margaret Gultekin. “All of us enjoy watching students be successful in a sport that is new to them.” Cam Colon would lead the Springfield charge with 10 points and Lance Robinson added nine more. Thee scoring came from their normal contributions, fast-break layups. Evan Hall scored four points for the Cosmos, and Emily Cobb and Natalie Corliss added two apiece. Springfield was without one of its four returning veterans, Falicia Maly, who sat out due to a concussion she suffered last week. “Her hustle and determination was missed,” Gultekin said. Gultekin also noted the team's passing is improving. For the Colonels, Gultekin said “No. 44 [Zach, no last name provided] was a powerhouse under the boards. He had some great moves, and was very motivated and hustled. No. 15 [Kayli, no last name provided], the look on her face when she scored was worth a million dollars. She smiled ear to ear.” Zach would lead all scorers with 20 points and Jacob (no last name provided) added 15 for Brattleboro. Springfield (1-2) returns home Monday to face Leland and Gray.
