2017-05-13 / Local Meeting Waters YMCA summer camps begin soon SPRINGFIELD — The “best summer ever” is right around the corner and Meeting Waters YMCA is offering a variety of camps to make sure kids and teens in southeastern Vermont and the Fall Mountain region are adventurous, active and healthy this summer. YMCA camp programs offer youth fun and unique experiences with an opportunity to explore the outdoors, meet new friends, discover new interests and create memories that last a lifetime. All camps are based at the regional Y’s 52-acre Lewis Day Camp facility, located on Route 5 in Springfield, just off I-91. Bus service is provided to and from camp each day from Charlestown, North Walpole, Walpole, Bellows Falls, Chester, Springfield and other towns in the region. The regional Y’s camps participate in the federal Summer Food Program. All campers—regardless of town of residence or family income—qualify for a free healthy lunch each day. And, to ensure that all youth have the chance to experience camp, Meeting Waters YMCA offers financial assistance to those in need. If you’re interested in helping send kids to camp this summer, you can donate to the Y at www.meetingwatersymca.org/support. A Camp Open House will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday, May 20, at the Y’s Lewis Day Camp facility on Missing Link Road/Route 5 in Springfield. For more information, visit www.meetingwatersymca.org or call their office at (802) 463-4769 or send an email to info@meetingwatersymca.org.
