Through their service, NCCC members are providing many service hours that will greatly help the organization give the community a better environment and experience. According to, Ethan Phelps, Park Regional Manager, assures that “AmeriCorps NCCC will have a great impact on the knowledge being provided to our day campers at Muckross Youth Day Camp and corps members will be receiving adequate information that will greatly benefit them in their professional career.” Muckross Youth Day Camp will become the newest Vermont State Park as soon as it becomes official. The property of 50 years will now be part of Vermont State Park, as a legacy of Edgar May, the first national assistant director of AmeriCorps' Vista Program, with the sole purpose to provide outdoor recreational and educational opportunities for Springfield youth and elders.
