2017-07-12 / Local Suspects arrested in VT drug sweep arraigned By ALLAN STEIN Eagle Times correspondent WHITE RIVER JUNCTION — Three people who were arrested on drug charges as part of a Vermont Drug Task Force sweep in May pleaded not guilty to selling heroin Tuesday in Vermont Superior Court, Windsor Criminal Division. Judge Theresa DiMauro released Tara L. Stone, 20, of 260 Whitney Road, Springfield, Thomas E. Daniels, 44, of 2 White St., Apt. 10, Springfield, and Donald Downing, 22, of 20 Wolf Road, Lebanon, New Hampshire on conditional recognizance. All three defendants were appointed public defenders and are due back in court Aug. 15 for a status conference. Stone is charged with the sale or delivery of heroin totaling 200 milligrams or more. Daniels faces the same charge on three counts, while Downing is charged with the sale or distribution of heroin of less than 200 milligrams. All three were arrested in mid-May as part of a Vermont Drug Task Force operation that targeted heroin and cocaine distribution in the Springfield area beginning in January 2016. The drug sting resulted in 16 arrests. Police said Stone allegedly sold 10 bags of heroin for $120 to a “confidential informant” in Springfield on May 17, 2016. Task force officers charged Daniels after making three controlled drug purchases in Springfield on Nov. 22, Nov. 30, and Dec. 2, 2016. In all, police seized 29 bags of heroin allegedly purchased from Daniels using $300 in task force money, police said in papers filed in court. Downing allegedly sold three bags of heroin for $60 during a controlled drug buy in Springfield in November 2016, police said. Others suspects facing charges stemming from the task force investigation include Danielle Garceau, 37, three counts of selling drugs on school grounds and two counts of violating the conditions of her release from jail; Mitchell Beauchamp, 28, three counts of sale of heroin; Glenna O’Connell, 36, two counts each for selling heroin and cocaine; Kyle Darrell, 25, sale of heroin; Cody Greenslit, 28, sale of heroin; Tammy O’Brien, 41, sale of heroin; Amanda Poller, 24, sale of heroin; Tevon Grey, 27, two counts of sale of heroin; Brittian Stocker, 24, of Chester, sale of heroin and selling narcotics on school grounds; Aaron Montgomery, 27, two counts of sale of heroin and one count of selling narcotics on school grounds; Debra Peltier, 39, sale of heroin; Jennifer Aldrich, 29, sale of heroin; Michael Dube, 35, sale of heroin; Marcellus Knight, 23, sale of heroin; Robert Newton, 47, of Springfield, July 11 two counts of sale of heroin.
