Button Up Vermont sites in Springfield | October 19, 2017 Chuck Gregory and Linda Brown promote Button Up Vermont recently at the Springfield transfer station. SPRINGFIELD, Vt. — Although we have not seen much cold weather yet, we know it is coming soon. As part of its community action plan, the Springfield Democratic Committee has partnered with the Button Up Vermont Campaign to help Vermonters greet the cold weather in an energy efficient manner. Button Up is simple. Residents who agree to undertake one new energy efficient action from Button Up’s checklist, will receive a free LED lightbulb to thank them for doing their part in making Vermont more energy efficient. The checklist has a continuum of actions, many of them simple DIY projects. Once the “action” is completed, residents are encouraged to report it to the Community Energy Dashboard. This makes them eligible for a weekly raffle. The weekly prizes will be either a Smart Thermostat or a $100 gift certificate to a local hardware store or retailer. The Springfield Town Democratic Committee will have a table set with the Button Up Vermont checklist, informational brochures, and LEDs at the Springfield Transfer Station through October and possibly into November. Tuesdays Oct. 24 to Nov. 28 from 3 to 4 p.m., Vermont residents can meet Button Up at the Springfield Town Library at 43 Main St., Springfield, Vermont.
