Trump isn’t another Hitler, he's another Obama

This may be the most significant summation of US politics you'll read this month. Commentary from progressive liberal journalist Caitlin Johnstone.

Modern 'liberals' are 1950s authoritarians
More from Caitlin Johnstone, voicing concerns about the delusion and hypocrisy of the hijacked liberal movement.

  1. Yeah, from a foreign policy standpoint, there's not much difference between the two. Worse yet, there never really is. Our involvement in Vietnam spanned decades, and multiple D's and R's, without much change. I've heard it said that once in office, Presidents realize that they're stuck continuing their predecessors policies; the pressure from the military industrial complex wins every time. The BIG difference between Obama and Trump will be domestic. She's right about that too, I guess. Just another "shitty neocon" who cuts taxes for billinaires and hands chump change to the working class. And, as with Reagan and the Bushes, rural conservatives love him, though he will do nothing for them. Just a lot of flag-waving and rhetoric. After all, what made anybody think that a NYC billionaire either knows or cares about flyover country; he flies over it just like all the rest. This country will NEVER LEARN!

  2. 7:04 again. I just read the other article, but disagree with it somewhat. One of my old college professors once remarked that modern liberalism is just 60's radicalism. He was right; as the Dems move ever farther leftward, they become more radical, AND more authoritarian at the same time. Try to tell one that it's possible to be both pro-labor AND pro-life and see how much crap you get! Just like modern "conservatives," it's their way or the highway. We are living in strange times; conservatives who think Russia is our friend, and liberals defending the FBI. YIKES! Then again, there never really was THAT much difference between Hitler and Stalin; they were just the two toughest guys on the block! Just like the aforementioned dictators, Liberals and Conservatives are nothing more than rabid authoritarians battling for control of America. Pick one or the other, just don't dare to think for yourself!

Liberals understand far better than conservatives how to work with a hash of temperaments, ideologies and idiosyncrasies to make democracy work. Conservatives generally try shoehorn everybody into the mold; liberals try to accommodate as many variables as possible. The former explains our valuation of a police state; the latter, the complexity of laws governing Medicare, fair housing and environmental safety. In the voting booth, ya gets yer pick!

    1. Sure, the left will give you economic benefits, JUST DON'T DEVIATE FROM THEIR CULTURAL AGENDA! I've had many "conversations" with liberals on this; not believing in gay rights, abortion, or gun control will ALWAYS get you labeled a Nazi. Literally. I've been on the recieving end of YOUR wrath, Chuck, when it comes to legalizing drugs! On the flip side, having traditional cultural values is not enough for the Right; you also have to accept supply-side economics, rampant militarism and religious extremism or suffer THEIR wrath! Sadly, thinking for ones self "ist verboten" on either side!
