SPRINGFIELD, Vt. – On Feb. 3, join us at 9:30 a.m. at the Pearl St. entrance to the Great Hall at Springfield Health Center for a 60-minute walk with Dr. Scott Durgin, our lifestyle health Doc! Dr. Durgin will give a brief lifestyle talk before we head out for our walk. The weather is looking great – partly sunny and brisk, so be sure to wear a warm jacket, gloves, and a hat to enjoy the walk! According to the American Heart Association, walking has the lowest dropout rate of any physical activity. Think it doesn’t do any good? Think again. Walking is low impact; easier on the joints than running. It is safe – with a doctor’s okay – for people with orthopedic ailments, heart conditions, and those who are more than 20 percent overweight. In addition, research has shown that you could gain two hours of life for each hour of regular exercise! That quick stroll around the block seems a little more worthwhile now, doesn’t it? SMCS-CHT is pleased to join this national program geared to promote healthy lifestyles.
