Breach of bail results in nine-month sentence NEWPORT — Jesse Laflam, 45, of Springfield, Vt. was sentenced in Sullivan Superior Court to serve a nine-month term of incarceration at the Sullivan County House of Corrections for violating the terms and conditions of his bail. Laflam was further sentenced to serve 1 1/2 to 5 years at the New Hampshire State Prison for two counts of possession of heroin. Those sentences were deferred for one year, conditioned upon good behavior, and compliance with the terms of his sentences. Laflam will be supervised by the New Hampshire Department of Corrections for a period of three years upon his release. He also received a 2-5 year period of incarceration at the New Hampshire State Prison for bail jumping. That sentence was suspended for five years conditioned upon his good behavior and compliance with the terms of his sentence. Laflam was initially arrested in April of 2017 by a New Hampshire State Police Trooper in the town of Croydon. He was found to be in possession of a quantity of the controlled drug, heroin. Laflam was released on personal recognizance bail, and provided a court date for June 20, 2017. Laflam failed to appear for that hearing and a warrant for his arrest was issued by the 5th Circuit-District Division-Newport. Laflam was later arrested on that warrant in August 2017 by the Claremont Police Department. Laflam was again found to be in possession of a quantity of the controlled drug. heroin at that time. The law enforcement community of Sullivan County will continue to be vigilant in their efforts to address the presence of dangerous drugs in this community, according to a press release. advertisement The Sullivan County Attorney’s Office is determined to pursue appropriate sentences designed to keep the people of Sullivan County safe, while further addressing the dangerous influences of controlled drugs at all phases of the criminal prosecution. The Sullivan County Attorney’s Office will continue to prosecute violations of conditions of bail in appropriate manners, the predssd release stated. The New Hampshire State Police and Claremont Police Department were involved in these investigations. The case was prosecuted by Deputy Sullivan County Attorney Justin Hersh.
