Springfield man suspected of aggravated assault Springfield man suspected of aggravated assault COURTESY HARTLAND, Vt. — A Springfield, Vermont man has been charged on suspicion of first degree aggravated domestic assault following an alleged incident on Saturday. Vermont State Police responded at 11:34 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 18 to a report of a "family fight" on Mace Hill Road in Hartland, Vermont. A police investigation revealed that Zachary Jones, 34, of Springfield allegedly assaulted the victim, all according to a press release from VSP. The alleged victim, whom police did not identify by name, was transported to a local hospital for evaluation and treatment. Jones was transported to Mt. Ascutney Hospital for treatments of minor injuries. Upon release, Jones was transported to Windsor Police Department for precessing. Jones was later lodged at Southern State Correctional Facility for lack of $1,500 bail. Jones is scheduled to appear at 12:30 p.m. Monday, Aug. 20 in Vermont Superior Court Windsor Criminal Division to face the charge.
