Educational program on soldiers in WW I

Historian and educator Myric McBain and Living History presenter Cori Santagate will present "The Things They Carried: Weapons, Uniforms, & Equipment of Soldiers in WWI” on Saturday, Dec. 8 at 2 p.m. at the Springfield Art and Historical Society facility on 65 Route 106, North Springfield.

This educational program focuses on the soldiers' experience in the First World War, with an emphasis on troops from Vermont, using period uniforms and artifacts to tell the personal stories of those who went to war a century ago. Participants can see first-hand not only the uniforms soldiers wore, but also the smaller, more personal items they carried with them into battle. Focusing on the humanity of the people who used them, participants will learn the stories behind the artifacts, and how they fit into the wider context of the “Great World War."

This program is free and open to all. For more information, call 802-886-7935.
