Police investigating shooting at Springfield Holiday Inn By Katy Savage Jan 7 2019 | 0 comments Police are investigating a shooting incident at the Holiday Inn in Springfield Sunday afternoon. Get all of VTDigger's daily news. Police said a 36-year-old man was injured with a gunshot wound to his leg and a stab wound on his neck caused by an unknown sharp object. Police were not yet releasing the name of the man, who was airlifted to Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center with life-threatening injuries. No suspects have been identified. Springfield Police received a 911 call around 3:52 p.m. Sunday for a physical altercation. Springfield Police turned the case over to Vermont State Police. “Right now we are looking for whoever is responsible — suspect or suspects,” State Police spokesperson Adam Silverman said. The Springfield Hospital and the Holiday Inn were both under lockdown for about three hours after the incident was reported. Holiday Inn General Manager Stephanie Parker declined to comment. Silverman said the incident appeared to be isolated and police do not believe the suspect poses a threat to the general public. “It doesn’t appear to be random,” he said. The Springfield shooting is one of three major incidents Vermont State Police have seen in the last 24 hours. A man who abducted a woman and child in New Hampshire and then sexually assaulted the woman at a hotel in White River Junction Sunday afternoon was arrested in Pennsylvania Sunday night. Hours after the Springfield shooting, Vermont State Police Major Crime Unit was called to investigate an officer-involved shooting in Arlington early Monday morning. Silverman said many of same officers are investigating all the cases.
