My condolences to the parents, but their loss is putting their children and others at even more risk.
ReplyDeleteIt's natural to want to place blame for a tragedy, but to impute it to that particular vaccine is , unfortunately, convenient. Convenient because it (a) allows them to stop trying to understand why it happened and (b) gives themselves a (false) sense of empowerment: "We can save other families by spreading this news!"
Had that particular batch of vaccine been the cause, there would have been an epidemic of autism disorder among hundreds or even thousands of babies, similar to the Thalidomide problem of the Fifties.
However, a lie spreads around the world before Truth has time to put its boots on, and their message will be sized upon by those who wish to prove their efficacy as parents by making wrong choices.
Children who are not immunized are a hazard to the immune-compromised-- the elderly, those on immunosuppressants and as-yet unvaccinated infants. (I once knew a two-month-old who contracted whooping cough from a contagious nurse in the hospital nursery. Fifty percent of infants die from it.)
It gives one a sense of power to say something like, "I'm protecting my child from death by vaccination," but it indicates the person does not have a grasp of the risks that preventable diseases prevent vs. the risks posed by immunizations. To have an accurate knowledge of that requires knowing over 1,000 bits of data.
The U.S. Court of Federal Claims in Washington DC handles contested vaccine injury and death cases in what has become known as "vaccine court." A total of 4 billion dollars has been paid out over the past two decades. The source of all those funds was the U.S. taxpayers, not the vaccine manufacturers.

At the time, parents were suing vaccine manufacturers after their children were brain injured or died following federally recommended and state mandated DPT (diphtheria, pertussis, tetanus) vaccines, or children were left paralyzed by live oral polio vaccinations (OPV).
Several DPT injury lawsuits against the vaccine makers in the 1970s and early 1980s resulted in multimillion-dollar jury verdicts.
At that point, vaccine manufacturers threatened to stop producing DPT, MMR and oral polio (the only childhood vaccines at the time) if civil litigation was allowed to continue.
Common sense would have dictated that such lawsuits were a sign that vaccine manufacturers needed to raise safety standards and produce less toxic vaccines.
Instead, Congress buckled to industry pressure and, declaring that the U.S. vaccine supply must be protected, passed the National Childhood Vaccine Injury Act, giving vaccine manufacturers the legal protection they demanded.
As a result, vaccine makers have no incentive to produce the safest vaccines possible, especially when many childhood vaccines are state mandated for school attendance and 2 out of 3 vaccine injured children are turned away from the VICP with no compensation.
I don't know what site you got your information from but this process was not started due to children injured by vaccines but was started based on the lack of vaccines that were available. Historically there have been a percentage of humans that have an adverse reaction to vaccines and there have been a relatively small amount of contaminated vaccines produced. As horrific as that is it has had much less impact than the number of people that die from or are left suffering from the impact of the diseases that we have vaccines for. The link between autism and vaccines came out of one study that has been found to be completely faulty and in fact lacked any scientific basis. Your publication of unscientific, drama, histaria chasing articles without researching the information to determine if it is valid is frightening. Look at the children that die during measel outbreaks due to a lack of vaccination do to FAKE NEWS.

ReplyDeleteThe fact remains there have been many thousands of children who developed autism or other neurological disorders within 24 hours of receiving a vaccination. Most victims are under the age of 3.
ReplyDeleteInstead of condemning parents for reporting such immediate and serious adverse effects, there should be an effort to study such cases to try to determine just why it can happen and then possibly come up with a way to prevent it happening to others.
Perhaps it is an allergy of some kind that produces that initial brain swelling. Maybe a test could be developed to indicate which children might be susceptible to such a horrible outcome and rule out the risk in others.

Open your minds folks. We are seeing more and more ex-vaxxers (not anti-vaxxers) because the public is waking up to a very broken liability free vaccine program that was built on a crumbling foundation.
ReplyDelete1) In 1979, 12 kids died after DPT vaccines. The medical industry's response was to remove vaccines as a cause of death from the ICD codes (SIDS and unknown remain). Wyeth's (a vaccine manufacturer) response was to make sure that vaccine lots were spread out so that there would be no apparent clusters of issues.
2) There were increasing numbers of lawsuits being slapped on the vaccine makers so they threatened to quit making vaccines. They lobbied Congress and that resulted in the 1986 National Childhood Vaccine Injury Act (NCVIA) that made it impossible to sue pharma and the medical community for damage from childhood vaccines. 3) In 2011, in a SCOTUS decision (BRUESEWITZ ET AL. v. WYETH LLC, FKA WYETH, INC.,
ET AL.), protection from design defect was interpreted to be included in the 1986 NCVIA.
So vaccines cannot be both "unavoidably unsafe" and "safe and effective."
4) Injury and death from vaccines is supposed to be recorded in a system called VAERS. It is estimated that only 1% of vaccine injury is reported because VAERS is a passive system that very few know about.
5) Vaccine safety/clinical trials are provided by pharma who do not use true placebos. They control the study variables as well. They compare the new vaccine to an old vaccine. They limit the parameters for the timing of a reaction and often eliminate injury or death that occurs during clinical trials as being tied to something else.
In a recent CDC Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) meeting, a new adjuvant was introduced for a Hepatitis vaccine. During the clinical trials for this vaccine, there were a number of heart attacks. When asked if the new adjuvant had been studied for use with other adjuvants, the answer came back no with the recommendation that it could be used in different limbs of the body (!). The new vaccine was voted in but immediately afterward, concern was expressed by those who voted about the heart attacks and post market surveillance/data was requested.
6) Health and Human Services (HHS) was tasked with the primary responsibility of ensuring vaccine safety after removing product liability from vaccine manufacturers. As part of the 1986 Act, HHS is required to create a task force and submit bi-annual reports to Congress detailing actions taken to ensure vaccine safety. They have yet to do a single report.
7) A recent study by a group of Italian biologists (Corvelva) tested Infanrix Hexa – a six-in-one vaccine manufactured by GlaxoSmithKline (GSK) that is supposed to contain the following antigens: tetanus, diphtheria and pertussis toxoids; inactivated poliomyelitis viral strains 1-2-3; and hepatitis B surface antigen. Shockingly, Corvelva found NONE of these antigens in the vaccine (meaning, that NO antibodies to the intended antigens will be created). And it gets worse...they found the following: traces of 65 chemical cross-contaminants from other manufacturing lines; chemical toxins; unrecognizable macromolecules; and various free bacterial peptides that are potential allergens and are capable of inducing autoimmune reactions.
I could go on and on but suspect I'll only be preaching to those who have done their homework.
We're talking about two different issues here: the efficacy of vaccines and the greediness of their for-profit manufacturers. Don't conflate the two.
