1200 gallon diesel fuel spill contaminates Black River

A diesel fuel spill on River Street Sunday morning sent much of it into the Black River.

*2ND ALARM HAZ-MAT* at 449 River Street. EPA and state haz-mat teams came to assist Springfield Fire Department with containment and clean up. A 1,200 gallon diesel fuel spill had resulted in most of it flowing into a storm drain and from there into the Black River. A haz-mat trailer from Ascutney was brought in. Oil containment booms were placed in the river.
