We lived in off Pleasant Valley Road from 1967-79. The Bartonsville bridge and williams river were two favorite places we'd go and visit and swim in the river. How sad to see it disappear in a flash. History destroyed by nature. HOW SAD! Never thought we'd see a flood like this in Vermont today! We just never know, do we?
ReplyDeleteI luckily had the opportunity to photograph this bridge in 2010 (I am a novice photographer and covered bridge enthusiast from FL) and this absolutely breaks my heart into a million pieces. How unbelievably sad. I will hold out hope that the bridge is reconstructed, as so many have before it. This would truly be (and is still) a terrible loss not only for the community in beautiful VT, but for admirers like me if there were to be no plans to rebuild.
ReplyDeleteI was really glad to get pics of the bridge this last Mothers Day. I would post them but not sure how.

ReplyDeleteThank you Admin. :)
ReplyDeleteI am honored that you are linking to photos I took of this beautiful bridge last year. My heart broke to hear the news of its destruction.
