Inmate accused of striking corrections officer
August 31,2012
SPRINGFIELD — An inmate has been charged for striking a corrections officer at Springfield Prison on Aug. 17.
Inmate Gene Quick, 29, allegedly assaulted Brandon Gallant, 26, in the recreation pen of the prison’s Foxtrot Unit. According to Detective Tyson Kinney of the Vermont State Police, Quick appeared to be secured in restraints as correction officers led him into the pen.
Quick struck Gallant on the left side of his head. The two struggled until correction officers separated the two, police said.
Gallant suffered a laceration on the left side of his head and was treated at Springfield Hospital. Quick did not sustain any injuries from the incident, police said.
Kinney said Quick’s handcuffs were not secured properly and he was able to use the handcuffs as a weapon consistent with brass knuckles.
Quick is currently serving time for previous assaults on correctional staff. He is scheduled to be arraigned at criminal court in White River Junction on Oct. 9.
I think the corrections officer is ready for our selectboard meetings.
ReplyDeleteLooking for a few good men who expect bumps, bruises, and surprises along the way.
Are they handcuffing people at the Selectboard meetings now? Well they better not handcuff those conservatives that are speaking out, or I will send my daughter up there to sit on them.
