Rick Baccei carried the ball down the right side to the end line and crossed to the middle, where Brochu booted it past Tim Hildreth. Play was even in the first half but in the second Rutland took advantage of the wind and carried play. But scoring was tough as Hildreth shined on his way to 13 saves. “He had an outstanding day,” Raider coach Kirk Abrahamson said. “They’re a good squad.” Rutland improved to 2-2 heading into Thursday night’s game at Mount Anthony. For the Division II Cosmos (1-1-1) Mike Muther played a solid game at midfield and the Raiders defense, which has stuggled, got good performances from Nicholas Roy and Dylan Conboy. Ethan Snitker had four saves in the Rutland nets.
