SPRINGFIELD — The victory over Stratton Mountain School capped a very productive week for Springfield. Coach Paul Kendall believes that the wins over Mount Anthony and SMC probably moved them into the No. 8 spot in the Division II standings, giving his Cosmos a first-round game at home in the playoffs. The pairings will be made on Monday.
The Cosmos finish the regular season at 6-7-1.
Corey Wheeler, the only football player to join the Cosmos when the school shut down the varsity grid program, scored the first two goals, both unassisted.
Chase Baldwin scored the third goal on an assist from Tanner Aberle.
Cosmo gooalie Tim Hildreth had eight saves as the Cosmos out-shot the Bears 30-8.
