Nunset Boulevard Opens at Springfield Players Studio
Submitted by VT Journal on Tue, 10/23/2012 - 2:20pm
SPRINGFIELD, VT -As the Springfield Community Players‘ production of “Nunset Boulevard” opens, The Little Sisters of Hoboken have been invited to sing at the Hollywood Bowl. Thrilled at the prospect, they arrive, only learn that they are booked into the Hollywood Bowl-A-Rama, a bowling alley with a cabaret lounge, not the glamorous Hollywood Bowl they were planning on.
Their indomitable spirits rise when they find that the famed movie producer James Todd, is across the street auditioning actresses for roles in his new movie musical about the life of Dolores Hart, the famous movie star who became a nun, and also gave Elvis Presley his first onscreen kiss. The Sisters, thinking they are naturals for parts race off to audition during their own show's intermission.
In the end, of course, after providing lots of laughs in song and dance numbers, the Sisters all realize that their true calling is as nuns. They head back to Hoboken to work with their students on the premiere of the school's new show, "The Catholic High School Musical.”
Director, Don Grayhas assembled a quintet of irrepressible singing and dancing nuns. Cindy Hughes of Springfield reprises her role of Sister Mary Hubert. Pam Church of Reading returns as Sister Amnesia as does Debbie Robling of Westminster as Sister Robert Anne. Choreographer Kay Burge of Springfield plays Mother Superior and Elizabeth Alexander of Springfield appears as Sister Mary Leo. The show promises to live up to the reviews of being, heavenly hilarious, wacky, and unpredictable, causing mayhem and tons of nun fun.
Performances are October 26-27 and November 2-3 at 7:30 p.m. There is a Sunday Matinee on October 28 at 2 p.m. Reserve tickets by calling the Players' Studio on South Street at 802 885-4098. Tickets are $l5.00 for general admission and $12.00 for seniors and students.
In honor of all of the negative posts and views shared on this blog I'd just like to continue the tradition by saying I'm all set and will have nun of that.
