Raiders back in win column
BOYS SOCCER
Rutland 1, Springfield 0
SPRINGFIELD — Peter Lynn broke up the deadlock with 10 minutes left and the Raiders improved to 4-5-0 by ending a three-game skid.
Cooper Babbitt sent away Lynn with a through ball and Lynn beat the last defender and put a shot past Tim Hildreth, who had a strong game with seven saves. Rutland out-shot the 4-5-1 Cosmos 15-7.
Ethan Snitker had two saves for Rutland on a wet pitch.
“It was hard-fought and wet and I thought the backs on both sides played very well,” said Rutland coach Kirk Abrahamson, who got solid contributions in back from Dylan Conboy and Jake Guarino.
The Division I Raiders will host Colchester on Saturday at 5 p.m. while the Cosmos will visit Burr and Burton on Monday.
