Springfield Hospital's Announces Centennial Celebration
Posted on 11/23/2012
In August 2013, Springfield Hospital begins to celebrate its 100th birthday. Among the many events planned to mark this special occasion is the Centennial Starlight Ball, an elegant black-tie gala in September. Plans for the ball were announced at a preview reception held at 56 Main Street Restaurant on Thursday, October 25.
In addition to its catered dinner and live music and dancing, the event is also a major fund raiser to “Make dreams come true for Springfield Hospital’s second century of caring” according to its co-chairs, Lynne Cannon and Suzanne Swanson.
Steve Birge, co owner of Black River Produce, surprised preview attendees when he announced that his company would be the event’s first $10,000 Diamond sponsor. IPG Employee Benefits and Comprehensive Benefits Administrators also announced that together they would be a $5,000 Emerald Sponsor.
Throughout the preview reception a slide show of historical photographs filled one wall, reminding guests of the theme of the Centennial: Springfield Hospital’s 100 Years of Caring.

I have had the pleasure of being affiliated with the local healthcare system with Springfield Hospital for nearly 34 years. It has given me the opportunity to practice medicine in a small community and really get to know many of my patients and their families in venues other than just in the office.
ReplyDeleteI can stand proud and say that Springfield Medical Care Systems is a system with the community's interest at heart and has very high quality medical care.
My family and I have been recipients of that care and are grateful for all of the practitioners who have taken part.
The centennial is an opportunity to celebrate and support local health care delivery.
I'm with you, Tony both you and your Wife plus the hospital, have helped me and my wife out ,over the many years with all positive results,For a hospital to be around 100 years is remarkable, all that time giving great care, and the cost is no different then the other area hospitals, most likely cheaper,if you look at the budget request over the years, having move out of the area and retired, We still use the hospital and your former partners for health care issues.
DeleteI wonder if the Craft family will be in attendance....black-tie and all....
ReplyDeleteStay classy Springfield.
DeleteAnd they will be smoke free!!
ReplyDeleteThere should be a party for all of the people in town that reluctantly spent their hard earned dollars there and made many of the employees extremely wealthy when compared to the rest of the residents of Springfield. Somehow I don't think they will be in attendance at the ball. The Cinderella story is just a fairy tale.
ReplyDeleteYour total lack of intelligence is showing.
DeleteOh come on guys, yes the announcement is a tad tone deaf, but the hospital has done a lot of good things in the community and deserves our support.
ReplyDeleteAnd many people who had no choice other than to go there for treatment were overcharged and effectively lined the pockets of a select few. I am sure they won't be at the ball unless a token representative is required for PR purposes. Will Bernie Madoff be there? For an industry that supposedly is all about saving lives and helping people they seem to be rather adept in overcharging people for their services. How many doctors in Springfield are on the welfare roles?
DeleteYou obviously don't know half of what happens in the hospital, or the charity work they do. Try getting your facts straight before you post. Or are just disgruntled because they wouldn't stock you up with narcotics to keep your home business running! And by the way, you have several other hospitals in the area you could visit. I'm sure they would be happy to take your money as well, that is if you even pay.
DeleteRight....the folks running the hospital are living in poverty while they spend their time saving lives for free. The medical profession has crippled the American public and they won't stop until they strip every nickel from the masses or they kill all of their victims through bad medicine. Why don't you check and see how many doctors in town have prescribed narcotics excessively, even to the point of killing their patients, before you start to smear posters with a narcotics label that dare to question reality.
DeleteGet some mental health counseling NOW. Oh wait, your against the medical profession. So sorry. Guess your on your own. Merry Christmas.
DeleteNext to state and local government, the hospital is probably the largest employer in town. The question is: How long will it survive? There have been numerous rumors as to its poor financial condition. Might as well have a party while it lasts!
ReplyDeleteformed the same year as the Federal Reserve.
DeleteIf you pay us enough ....we might save your life. Looking for an alternative.... there are none. Pay up or die! Anyone need some drugs?
ReplyDeleteyes, what happened to all of the extra and left over medicine that was collected from the collection.
DeleteIs any of that avaiable for those who are not able to afford their own ? Is it collectivly available from my neighbors to help in the healtha care of my family or neighbors baby ? or was it wastefully destroyed leaving me no hope other than the thought of if I were to get a tattoo and a cell phone to fit in and wait in line. Can I borrow your stroller ?
