  2. Notice they state that unemployment went down but not that employment went up. The two are not mutually inclusive so unemployment going down doesn't mean squat.

    1. I stand correct:
"Seasonally adjusted data for November shows total employment increased by 500 last month while total unemployment increased by 800."

      But unemployment still beats employment...

  3. I think they don't count people in jail, so this probably means they jailed more un employed people 'cause they needed the money too.

    1. actually, they count them inside as employed for the work jobs they perform so it actually removes one from the unemployment and adds one to employement for a grand total of two points.

  5. Is it a coincidence that the two highest unemployed towns are towns that have prisons???? Wasn't it promised that the prison would create jobs? Hmmmmm....

    1. Good point. But looking around at the slackers walking the streets, I doubt any of them seriously want to work. Truth be told, in VT if you don't want to work, you don't have to.
As a public service announcement here is lesson one on how to get on the gravy train. Take a job that requires a level talent, autobody, machining, finish carpentry, etc. Once on the job, work acceptably for 90 days, then let the quality of your work slip. Eventually you will be terminated as being a liability to your employer. However, you're fully eligible for unemployment for 52 weeks! Here's why. In Vermont if your workmanship does not meet expectations, you are not responsible! Compounding the issue is your employer must now pay even higher unemployment insurance rates. As it's a small town, we employers frequently swap notes on your type. Effectively making you unemployable, except perhaps as baby sitters for HCRS.
Follow along as I present a series how to enjoy a life of leisure here in Vermont.
