Published April 20, 2013 in the Rutland Herald Rebels run past Springfield BASEBALL Leland & Gray 14, Springfield 1 TOWNSHEND — Zach Wilkins pitched six strong innings and drove in four runs to lead Leland & Gray over Springfield, 14-1 in Marble Valley League baseball on Friday. Coming on in relief to start the second inning, Wilkins allowed only two hits. He struck out seven and got some nice help in center field from Ryan Borgesson, who tracked down some bals hit over his head. The Rebels leveled their record at 1-1 after losing the opener to Bellows Falls. “The way they got the bats going today we have a good chance to be a contender by the end of the year,” coach Eric Durocher said. The Rebels collected 12 hits, with Wilkins getting two and Riley Kenney going 4-for-4. Kenney doubled twice, stole a base and drove in three runs. Wilkins stole two bases. Leland & Gray will visit Windsor on Wednesday.

Looks like the baseball coach should learn from the football coach and start claiming head injuries and beg to play in a lower division next year. Save face while you can coach it certainly worked for the football coach.
ReplyDeleteThe difference between the two is that multiple players aren't gong to the E/R for head injuries in baseball. But thanks for your comments. When YO,U and those like YOU, take time out of your "busy" schedule to work with our youth, MAHYBE we might take your comments into consideration. Get your head in the game.
