    1. This post makes no sense, "our money is the schools" what does that even mean?

    2. There are much worse do research then speak 6:52, off the top of my head Winooski is far worse. If Winooski is worse then you know others are far worse as well.

  3. I hope it passes. If this blogspot is any indication of the intelligence level of some of these families, these kids need all the help they can get.

Exactly. I love it when people write negative comments, painfully riddled with grammatically incorrect sentences and misspellings, about the teachers and the schools in this town. It's delightful.

  4. Well, the schools have learned the secret is to keep the publicity low and off the blog and out of the paper. People forget when the revote is then they send out all the staff to the highrise with absentee ballots and that with the school staff passes the budget because the town voters don't keep track of the re-vote date. It really is quite a simple ploy they have used for a long time. Its ok they still got less out of our pockets and had to concede. We can only hope for a good year with proven results. If not then a flat vote/flat budget next year.

    1. So, if I understand you correctly its the school districts fault that voters don't stay informed as to when the school budget re-vote is?

  5. So 9 24... by voting no what did you get? A $200,000 less school budget??? Wow congrats on your magnificent achievement!!! you save $5 this year, don't spend it all in one place, Jack! All you did was decrease the utilities, books, computers, attention etc.. that children in Springfield schools will receive, in turn showing potential new home buyers in Springfield that citizens don't at all support their own schools, how pathetic. Take your $5 and go to McDonalds and divulge in butt fat patties you dink!

    1. That is right and it cost money to have the extra vote. As a matter of fact one year they increased it and it went through. So let’s stop voting it down.

    2. Yup 200k less you bet ya! Another year that you dumbasses don't get to dictate that the world will end without the money. Do more with less. What any new home buyer should know is that the staff and union are unwilling to take less, pay more for benefits and have less less paid time off. That is what the new home buyers should realize. That we have a system, not unlike the rest of the country, whose union is sucking the life out of the system and the ability to actually educate. Go watch yourself a good ole episode of Waiting for superman! Your anger doesn't scare or intimidate me! Pound sand!

    3. So, when you take a pay cut like you believe teachers should you and I are going out on a dinner date... your buying, donkey lips!

  6. A notice was mailed...perhaps you can not read and missed the re-vote as a result. Maybe that yes was needed if only to teach the youth in your life the ability to read so you do not miss any meetings in the future. To note, I am a community member not a board or district employee.

    1. hmmm interesting. I am a registered voter. I have lived in the same place for almost 10 years, I do read, and I did not get a notice. Maybe they ran out of notices!

    2. Maybe they ran out of money to print them all since the budgets been cut so much. It was on green paper too and had lovely bold print.

  7. I bet the liberals are fuming tonight. This is $215,000 less money they'll be able to take of your already slim plates.

  9. Cut the budget and go back to teaching like they did in the 50's. Fewer dropouts and smarter students. All this "high-tech" teaching hasn't produced the adults this country could be proud of this last decade.

    1. 11:23, are you really suggesting we should go back to the 50's?

Plus, I think Mark Zuckerberg might have something to say about this "high-tech" teaching, and maybe a few of his friends:

    2. How will not teaching the kids about the "high tech" things prepare them for the real world? Get real!

    3. 11:23 sums up the major issue in this community. To many people want to go back to the way things were in the 50's or when the shops were here and not enough people want to move forward in envisioning a town without the machine tool industry.

  11. Re: 9:36 "...potential new home buyers..."??? Ha, ha, ha, ha, ha. Don't let all those "new homes" in Springfield stack up! Now where was that new development where all those "new homes" are for sale anyway?

  12. I'm just hoping that all the teachers and all the out of town administrators are happy with their big raises they will be getting now.they worked hard getting these raises for themselves, time for a new school board.

    1. Hahaha. 5:18 you know that in March two of the School Board members were re-elected by an OVERWHELMING majority, right?

Another fact you may want to look into: the raises the teacher will be getting this year were approved two years ago.

5:18 ladies and gentleman, potentially your next school board member, but I doubt his (or her) actions are bigger than his (or her) mouth.

    2. i do know they were voted back in,hard not to be when your the only ones running,i know the raises were approved 2 years ago and the town doesn't have anymore money now then they did them,it doesn't matter if new people get on the school board, as long as the majority of the old board are still on there things will never change, sounds like you might be one of the people receiving this big raise or your one that approved it

    3. But, do you know that there should be a space after a comma?

  13. Anon 5:18 - What big raises? Have you even looked at the
contracts? Had you did read the article you would find that two of our adminstrators took reductions in compensation. In the future I would encourage everyone on this blog to make arguments based on evidenced facts versus spouting off at the mouth based on personal opinions.

    1. 2 took reductions out of how many,do you know that the rest are getting a 3% raise this year, there was $218.000.00 in the budget for raises this year, maybe you should do some research before spouting off at the mouth, read the budget papers they put out

Our town will NEVER move forward with vision and hope until all the elderly machine tool 'good old days' buzzards are dead and buried....which shouldn't be too far off.

    I look forward to it.

  15. It's pretty sad that our educators are actually acknowledging these posts and trying to respond to them,,, like they think they are going to make a difference...teachers of Springfield, come on really???,,,have some pride and societal/internet comprehension. Be the educated ones....I shake my head is disgust just wondering how many of our teachers are responding in this unjust, entertaining, inaccurate and ignorant blog...

At best,,,this site is pure entertainment. Like the news. It's a cover, a form of entertainment to keep the truth from the people who can't handle it.

  16. @Anonymous4/23/13, 9:36 PM, I will tell you what is pathetic, namely a plethora of homes for sale in the price range between $50,000-$75,000 with property taxes of $3000-$4000 / year.

If you imagine for ONE SECOND that a potential home buyer looks at current prices and proprty tax rates and think to themselves, "Gee, those taxes should be MUCH higher. I guess I'll look for a house in a different town so I can pay more and see it go to the schools" you are dreaming.
