12-year-old boy recovering from Vt. power accident Eagle Times / July 24, 2013 SPRINGFIELD, Vt. (AP) — A 12-year-old boy who suffered a high-voltage shock after grabbing an electrical line at a substation in Vermont in May is back home and making progress in his recovery. Ian Treadway had climbed into a gated substation in Springfield operated by Green Mountain Power and grabbed the electrical line, leaving him with second- and third-degree burns on his face and upper body. He was in a medically induced coma for part of his recovery. Treadway tells the Eagle-Times (http://bit.ly/1aImY2V) he can’t explain why he went to the substation after school. He says the most challenging part of his day is being unable to get his arm back to a full extension. Doctors were able to graft skin from his thighs and lower back to cover his neck, chest and arms. ___ Information from: Eagle Times, http://www.eagletimes.com © Copyright 2013 Globe Newspaper Company.
Not an accident.
ReplyDeleteGlad to hear the Ian is back home.
ReplyDeleteThe headline should read "12-year-old boy recovering after trespassing incident"
ReplyDeleteHopefully while he was experiencing the massive pulse of voltage a light switch went on in his brain that signaled avoiding any future similar escapades. I wish him well in his recovery from a very stupid act. Darwin was right.
