Fire broke out late Saturday afternoon in a mobile home park on Fairground Road in North Springfield destroying one home.
Nearby residents reported hearing a loud explosion at the start of the fire. The home was completely engulfed in flames when the fire department arrived. Smoke rose so thick that one neighbor east of the fire said it seemed almost like night out at 6 pm.
Very calm air conditions kept the smoke from dispersing out of the area. It built up as a pervasive thick haze that spread throughout much of the village of North Springfield. Looking like a biomass opponent's worst imaginings. But the odor smelled more like plastic burning than wood smoke.
The mobile home park is owned by David Hall.

everyones worst nightmare. Truely sorry for the folks who lost their home. Hopefully they were insured. If not, hopefully the community will pull together to help.
ReplyDelete"Looking like a biomass opponent's worst imaginings." This sentence and subject has no business being in this article. I guess reader's comments need to be reviewed for approval, but "news content" retains an open license to libel.
ReplyDeleteWhat happened to freedom of speech?

DeleteWhat's libelous about it? Especially considering the out-and-out nonsense that the biomass plant opponents have been spewing to drum up hysteria?
ReplyDeleteBut back to the topic, I'm glad the man has only minor injuries and hope he is able to find a place to live soon.
