Vermont Strong license plates stolen

Police say some thief is targeting Vermont Strong license plates in Springfield.

Plates were taken from cars parked in the hospital parking lot and on nearby side streets. Apparently it was more than just an act of vandalism. They took the time to avoid damaging them by removing the screws that hold the plates in place, rather than just trying to rip them off with a crowbar.

Anyone with information should contact the Springfield Police Department.

The state created the I AM VERMONT STRONG license plates in collaboration with I Am Vermont Strong, Inc. (www.iamvermontstrong.com) after the tropical storm Irene disaster. Net proceeds from the sale of each plate distributed to both the Vermont Disaster Relief Fund and the Vermont Food Bank. This plate may be displayed on the front of a qualified vehicle registered in Vermont until June 30, 2014.

    1. It's to raise funds for the Irene storm. Not sure why they're doing it though, between insurance and free government money.
